I, the professional tennis player Oana Simion, gave myself the goal to reveal on this blog the unknown life of a player in the professional circuit, beyond the results, matches that you have seen live, on TV or on streams.
I invite you on a journey through the Pro Circuit – having me as a guide – through its most hidden corners.
You will learn a lot about the turmoil, the hesitations, the doubts, the sorrows, but also about the satisfactions of a tennis player who is rarely on the spotlight.
The website includes – under the section Playing in the Professional Circuit – my diary from which, in addition to the results, you will also find out the emotions that I had during the tournaments or during the time spans when I was practicing or recovering.
In the Beyond the Court section, I will write about the issues related to the activity in tournaments, about tennis, but not only. These are also the experiences of my colleagues who play more on the ITF circuit. Of course, my path is different from others, but it often intersects with theirs, if only because we have a common dream: that of playing in a Grand Slam tournament. In fact, in another section of the site I will have conversations with other players. Precisely so that you can have the whole picture, listening to other stories or points of view. I will not avoid talking about the statements of top players either, especially when they refer to the problems we face – yes, there is solidarity now -, or when they reveal their own emotions, doubts or when they address relevant aspects of their careers. This column, in which I will also present my points of view related to the financial side or the difficulties we encounter is called The Condition of the Tennis Player.
I feel that I am entitled to write from the inside about professional tennis and about the issues the tennis players face, even if I have only been present a few times on the draws in the WTA circuit. And that is for two reasons:
- My professional career started in 2010 and since then I have played in 74 ITF singles and doubles finals, winning 41 titles. The ITF ranking, the one in which only ITF W15 tournaments are considered, started for more than two years with my name.
I became the leader of this ranking on the 23rd of December, after a streak of very good results. You can find my achievements by going through the statistics of the Career section [Professional Record &Results] - Moresoever, in 2020, I ran for the ITF Players’ Council, my platform [in English, at the end of this article] states testimony for the interest that I had in this matter since quite a long time
Also, you can find more information about me in the section Biography.
You can access all these sections from the Menus available on each page of the website.
